UBUNTU PRESENTS: CONFLUENCE
BACKGROUND:
Ubuntu is the University of St Andrews' African Caribbean Society's Fashion and Dance showcase.
As the Head of Media and Publicity for this platform, I led a team of Photographers and a Videographer to create the overall 'look and feel' for UBUNTU, based on the Big Idea I had come up with. I also developed the visual identity and assets below, as well as a WIX website.
THE BIG IDEA:
UBUNTU 2019 PRESENTS 'CONFLUENCE' - 'Confluence' celebrates a merging of cultures, because as the philosophy of 'Ubuntu' states, 'We are through each other'.
IMPLEMENTATION:
Facebook and Instagram were the primary platforms used to reach our target audience of St Andrews students.
To set us apart from the other charity fashion shows, I used copy that was 'approachable' and 'zingy' in tone, as opposed to aspirational. Meanwhile, the visual identity directly spoke back to the theme through the use of interweaving lines, and a proliferation of bright colours.
RESULTS:
The show sold out and we raised a sizeable sum for our chosen charity, MIND UK.
The team:
Models: Kate, Gordian, Sam, Dalma, Emilio, Jade
Director of Photography: Abby Harding
